  • Preconfigured Google Analytics 4 event tag

    • Event Parameters
      • video_current_time
      • video_duration

      • video_provider
      • video_title
      • video_url
  • Preconfigured Universal Analytics event tag
    • Event Category: Video
    • Event Action: {{Video Status}}
    • Event Label: {{YouTube|Vimeo|HTML5}}: {{Video Title}}

  1. Save money. Our recipes are less expensive than most web developers will charge you.
  2. Save time. Simply download this .json file and import it into Google Tag Manager instead of waiting for a developer to hardcode events.
  3. Tried & True: All our recipes are created out of necessity for our website or our clients so you know they work.
  4. Compatible. We use standardized event names that work with all of our Video Tracking GTM Recipes as well as the YouTube video events that Google Analytics 4 tries to automatically fire. Additionally, whereas the automatic YouTube video tracking from GA4’s enhanced measurement will not track pause events, our YouTube recipe does track pause events to bring it in line with our other Vimeo & HTML5 variations.
  5. Reassurance. In some cases, such as lazyloaded videos, GA4 won’t automatically track YouTube videos. In this case, you can use our YouTube video tracking recipe to properly fire YouTube event tags when GA4’s enhanced event measurement doesn’t work.
